Mr. D’Aoust's career spans more than 35 years of diversified professional and senior management experience, in both the private and public sectors.  Most recently he was Chief Audit and Evaluation Executive at Environment and Climate Change Canada, and joined the Department in 2008 as the Director General of Financial Services.  In the 1980s, Robert worked for a public accounting practice and subsequently for a national management consulting firm.  In the 1990s he founded a successful management practice in partnership with Marcil, Lavallée & Associates, where he advised government clients in areas such as governance and accountability, performance and productivity, grant and contribution programs, management information and system, and procurement.  In 2002, he joined the Office of the Auditor General of Canada as Director with the Commissioner of the Environment and Sustainable Development, and was subsequently appointed Chief Financial Officer for the Office.  He also served on boards of directors within the health care sector.

Robert graduated from the University of Ottawa with a Baccalaureate in Commerce (Honours, 1978) and a Master in Business Administration specialized in management sciences (1981).  He also holds the professional designations of chartered accountant and certified fraud examiner.
