Richard French appointed to the Order of Canada

Congratulations to Richard French, Senior Fellow at the Graduate School of Public and International Affairs and inaugural chairholder of the CN Paul M. Tellier Chair on Business and Public Policy for his appointment as a member to the Order of Canada. The Order of Canada, one of our country’s highest civilian honours, recognizes outstanding achievement, dedication to the community and service to the nation. Professor French was selected for his contributions to enhancing public institutions and for his efforts to bridge the public sector and the business world.

Richard French has had a distinguished career in both the public and private sectors. He taught at McGill University before entering provincial politics in Quebec, which lead him to serve as a Member of the National Assembly as well as Minister of Communications. He was vice-chairman (telecommunications) of the Canadian Radio-Television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC). Upon leaving public life, he held several senior executive positions in the private sector at Bell Canada.
