It is with honour that we announce that Dr. John Sylvestre, Professor of Psychology, has received a Recognition Award from the Society for Community Research and Action (SRCA) - Division 27 of the American Psychological Association (APA).

The SRCA is an organization whose main objective is to put in place concrete actions to protect people at risk, throughout the contribution of research and commitments made by various psychologists who have proven themselves in their community. Moreover, it is through his research in community psychology, specifically the experience of homeless people with serious mental illness that Dr. Sylvestre was able to stand out and earn this honour.

Dr. John Sylvestre is not only an Associate Professor at the School of Psychology, but also a Vice-Dean of Research at the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Ottawa. Among other things, he has published articles on the results of his studies on adolescents, adults, LGBTQ people who are homeless and living with mental disorders, their shelters and their relationship to society.

Our most sincere congratulations to Professor Sylvestre!
