The Social Sciences Building recently received the Institutional Building Award at the Ontario Concrete Awards. The new LEED Gold-certified facility, a 15-storey building with adjacent podia, was designed by Diamond Schmitt Architects and KWC Architects.

The building has also received the Interior Wood Design Award from Ontario Wood WORKS. Several wood products have been integrated in many high-traffic areas in the facility.

As well, last November, the building, which contains North America's largest vertically planted living wall biofilter, won the 2014 Interior Green Wall Award of Excellence at CitiesAlive, the Green Roofs for Healthy Cities conference.
