Rita Abrahamsen

An analysis of the impact of Canadian scholars in International Relations has revealed that Rita Abrahamsen, professor at the Graduate School of Public and International Affairs (GSPIA) and Director of the Centre for International Policy Studies (CIPS), is one of the most influential scholars of Africa and international politics in the world. As demonstrated in a table of the Top 10 most-cited publications in African IR, her book Disciplining Democracy is the 5th most-cited book, and the second most-cited of all Canadian-based researchers. Her 2011 study Security Beyond the State, co-authored with GSPIA professor Michael C Williams, is also listed the seventh most-cited book in the field.

The article, titled Reflexive Pluralism in IR: Canadian Contributions to Worlding the Global South, was published in International Studies Perspective in early June 2021.
