Signing ceremony for the agreement for the Research Chair in Taiwan Studies

It is with great pleasure that the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Ottawa has extended its collaboration with the Ministry of Education (Taiwan) through the renewal of the Research Chair in Taiwan Studies. Signed during a virtual ceremony with the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Canada on May 31, 2021, the agreement extends the research chair for three additional years.

This research chair is shared between professors Scott Simon (School of Sociological and Anthropological Studies) and André Laliberté (School of Political Studies). This partnership will continue to enhance and further develop the quality of research and teaching in Taiwan Studies at FSS and broadly disseminate knowledge of the politics, economy, external relations, history, society, languages, and culture of Taiwan. The activities of the chair will include the supervision of graduate students and an annual public Taiwan Studies Lecture Series.

Congratulations to co-directors, professors Simon and Laliberté! We wish you continued success.
