The Faculty of Social Sciences Welcomes Six Visiting Researchers

The Faculty of Social Sciences is pleased to welcome six visiting researchers in 2020,thanks to the support of the Visiting Researchers Program of the Office of International Research (OIR). This program, which aims to foster partnerships and collaborations between researchers and institutions, enrich the research experience of students, and increase the visibility of the University of Ottawa, allows faculty members to host a researcher for a two-week stay.

Dr. David Barrengoa – Universidad Nacional de La Plata, Argentina

Dr. Barrengoa is a medical and psychological anthropologist with experience in clinical and epidemiological research in the field of addictions and critical public health policy. He is invited by Professor Ari Gandsman, PhD – School of Sociological and Anthropological Studies.

Cinira Fortuna, PhD – École de sciences infirmières de Ribeirão Preto de l’Université de São Paulo, Brésil

Cinira Fortuna's research focuses on groups and the collective reflexivity of teams of health professionals. She is invited by Professor Marguerite Soulière, PhD – School of Social Work.

Hanna Chainay, PhD – Université Lyon II, France

Hanna Chainay has expertise in aging, memory, experimental psychology and computer science. She is invited by Professor Patrick Davidson, PhD – School of Psychology.

Dr. Peter Balint – University of New South Wales, Australie

Dr. Peter Balint is a world-class héoricien politique de classe mondiale basé à l’Australian Defence Academy. Il est invité par la professeure Patti Tamara Lenard, PhD – School of Public and International Affairs.

Jolan Hsieh – National Dong Hwa University (NDHU), Taiwan

Jolan Hsieh has a wealth of experience working on Indigenous justice issues and is recognized as an international specialist in the field. She is invited by Professor Scott Simon, PhD – School of Sociological and Anthropological Studies.

Amanda Carolina Barrenengoa, PhD – Universidad Nacional de La Plata, Argentina

Amanda Carolina Barrenengoa is an early-career scholar who has developed expertise about the National Development Bank of Brazil (BNDES). She is invited by Professor Susan Spronk, PhD – School of International Development and Global Studies.
