Virginie Cobigo

We are pleased to announce that Dr. Virginie Cobigo has just been selected as the new Chair in Child and Youth Mental Health. This is a joint CHEO/uOttawa Chair that is co-located at the CHEO RI and the Faculty of Social Sciences. The CHEO Research Chair in Child and Youth Mental Health plays a key role in linking together the considerable research resources of the community in services for child and youth mental health.

Virginie Cobigo is currently an Associate Professor in the School of Psychology at the University of Ottawa. She completed her training at the Université de Caen and Université Rennes II in France and the Université du Québec à Montréal. Following her PhD/PsyD, Dr. Cobigo continued her studies from 2008-2011 as a Post-Doctoral Fellow in Health Research in the Department of Community Health and Epidemiology at Queen’s University. Prior to her arrival at University of Ottawa in 2013, Dr. Cobigo spent a year as a Senior Lecturer at the University of East Anglia, UK.

Dr. Cobigo’s goal is to develop a health services research program focused on understanding and improving service outcomes for children and youth with intellectual and developmental disabilities using a lifespan and systemic perspective. Dr. Cobigo’s work at CHEO/OCTC & CHEO RI has already started. She is a co-investigator on a CHAMO-funded research project with Dr. John McLennan (Chair in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry) on “Mapping longitudinal cross-sector service use patterns to better inform service reform: Children with intellectual disabilities and/or autism spectrum disorder”.

Please join us in wishing Dr. Cobigo much her success in her new role!
