This is a chance to come together! Whatever your year, your program or your ambitions, we invite you to join us!

Courses, readings, assignments, work, volunteering, being fit, getting involved, and yes…SLEEP!! Today’s students are busier than ever. Faculty of Social Sciences student mentors will show you best practices for time management.

Bring your agenda and your course outlines. This hands-on workshop will help you get organized and draw up a plan to achieve your academic and personal goals for the session.

Format: Interactive workshop

BONUS: All students who participate will receive a FSS Erasable Wall Planner!

Tuesday, September 18th

Fact: Thirty minutes after attending class, you have already forgotten approximately 50% of the information provided to you.

This workshop will help you recognize what is important in readings and in class and offer simple strategies to help you develop your note-taking skills, including how to take concise, well-organized and well-worded notes. You’ll also get useful tips to help you retain information and maximize study time. Join us — let’s talk!

Stretch and Unwind: Yoga to manage stress and maximize energy!

To handle the responsibilities that come with a quick thirteen week session, you need self-care, wellness and stress management techniques.

Join us for a FREE yoga session offered by your friends at Sport Services. Bring your mats!

Wellness Wednesday: Coping with stress

2:30 - 4:00 p.m. (FSS 4004) (Workshop in English, with bilingual question period)

Come take part in a discussion on simple healthy strategies you can easily apply to your day-to-day life. We will discuss mental health and wellbeing, healthy eating, exercise, sleep, mindfulness, self-care and stress management. At the end of the workshop, you will leave with concrete steps and resources to make positive changes in your life and to keep you well throughout the school year.

Offered by Dr. Valerie Hertzog, family physician, medical advisor, registered yoga teacher and a new mother with a lifelong interested in holistic health.

A World of Ideas: International Engagement and Opportunities in Social Sciences

As Social Sciences students, you have opportunities to take part in field research, internships, a Model United Nations course, many experiential learning opportunities. Dr. Luc Beaudoin, a PSY grad, who specializes in applications of psychology to improve cognitive productivity and well-being. He is an avid entrepreneur who co-founded CogSci Apps, founder of CogZest, who's work has been featured in Forbes Magazine, The New York Times, Lifehacker, Popular Science Magazine and many others.
