Congratulations to the FSS3295 Class who participated in the MODEL UN simulation in 2021.It was an unusual year as the conference had to be moved completely online due to COVID19. Our delegation represented Norway and won the following awards: Honorable Mention, Outstanding Position Paper and Outstanding Delegates in Committee,

The Faculty of Social Sciences is very proud of the 2016 student delegation representing the United Kingdom, which won the Distinguished Delegation award, 12 Outstanding Position Paper awards as well as 3 outstanding delegate awards in the National Model United Nations (NMUN) Conference.

The Faculty of Social Sciences is extremely proud of the student delegation which participated in the National Model United Nations (NMUN) Conference, held in New York City from March 29 to April 2. The delegation received a well-deserved honourable mention that recognizes the delegation’s hard work.
In addition, the delegation received six Outstanding Position Papers awards.

The Faculty of Social Sciences is extremely proud of the student delegation which participated in the National Model United Nations (NMUN) Conference, held in New York City from March 30 to April 3. The delegation received the event’s most prestigious award: Outstanding Delegation. The well-deserved award recognizes the delegation’s amazing work.

Visit from Minister Oh Song of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea
On March 19, Minister Oh Song of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea gave a talk to the Model UN course students who will be participating in the National Model United Nations in New York City from March 30 to April 3.

On February 8, the uOttawa delegation participated in the Quebec Model United Nations at Université Laval.

2013

The University of Ottawa and the Faculty of Social Sciences continue their tradition of excellence! The 2013 delegation won the "Distinguished Delegation" award at the National Model United Nations in New York, which took place March 24-28. The prize is awarded to the second best delegations. This is the fourth consecutive year that the University of Ottawa wins a prize. In addition, Elysia Buchanan, Elizabeth Mountford, Janan Arafa and Samantha Nicholl all won the "Outstanding Position Papers" award, and Janan and Samantha also received the "Outstanding Delegates in Committee (peer voting)" award.

This year, the uOttawa delegation was comprised of students from the faculties of Social Sciences, Arts, Law (Civil Law Section), and the Telfer School of Management:
Rasha Al-Katta, Janan Arafa, Arabelle Aslan, Elysia Buchanan, Maya Bugorski, Julia Cieslukowska, Ghaith El-Mohtar, Léane Gaumond, Vanessa Hayford, Michael Kelly, Isabelle Lavoie, Elizabeth Mountford, Samantha Nicholl, Vanessa Rydell, Stacey Smydo, Sinead Sullivan-Paul, Alexander Torres, Geneviève Tremblay-Tardif, Evan Turunen and Faye Williams.
Adam Moscoe, a former NMUN delegate, was this year’s Head Delegate and Professor Justin Massie was the Faculty Advisor.

National Model United Nations in New York

The Faculty of Social Sciences is very proud to announce that the student delegation which represented France in the National Model United Nations (NMUN) Conference, held in New York City from 3 to 7 April, received the “Distinguished Delegation Award”. This is the second of three awards attributed to the best delegations taking part in the NMUN, based on the overall delegation performance across all UN model committees. In addition, members of the delegation also received six “Outstanding Position Papers in Committee” awards. Congratulations to the delegates; the awards are well deserved!
