The Chaire UNESCO Défis partagés du développement : savoir, comprendre, agir was created through collaboration between six founding institutions, including the School of International Development and Global Studies of the Faculty of Social Sciences.
Professor Marie-Eve Desrosiers, member of the steering committee, explains the interest of this Chair, including what it can bring to the students of the School of International Development and Globalization. "The UNESCO Chair in Shared Challenges for Development is for me the consecration of the will of all the founding members to put forward a real partnership beyond the divisions expected between North and South. It is and will be a forum to reflect together, researchers and students, on the pressing development issues that are emerging in our societies.
It supports research produced by students through awards and scholarships, and is also a bridge for contacts between communities, including students and member institutions. "
The Faculty congratulates Professor Marie-Eve Desrosiers and Professor Stephen Baranyi, who have also been appointed members of the Chair's steering committee.
