Biography

I am in my 6th year of the University of Ottawa’s Clinical Psychology Program, currently completing my residency at the Royal Ottawa Mental Health Center. Before being given this fantastic opportunity to do a PhD, I was at Wilfrid Laurier University completing an undergraduate degree in psychology. My honours thesis examined phallic symbolism and its relation to males’ and females’ musical instrument preferences and musical instruments’ sex-stereotypes.

My PhD research revolves around factors related to sexual well-being in older adulthood. The sexual needs of individuals in later life can often be undervalued, ignored, or even mocked. Greater effort needs to be put forth into understanding and normalizing the diversity of these individuals’ sexual experiences and helping intervene when sexual dissatisfaction or distress occurs.

Clinically, I enjoy working with forensic/correctional populations and individuals with lived experience of psychosis. I am drawn to the spectrum of life experiences, strengths, and struggles of these individuals and I greatly value the constant personal growth working with these clients promotes.
