Press release

Ottawa (on the way to Glasgow) - Friday, October 29, 2021

A delegation of experts from the University of Ottawa, representing the CQDE, is attending 26th UN Climate Change Conference (COP26) in Glasgow.

An interdisciplinary team of three researchers, Dr. Thomas Burelli, Dr. Alexandre Lillo and Dr. Lauren Touchant, from the Centre for Environmental Law and Global Sustainability, the Centre on Governance, and the Public Law Centre, will participate in COP26 as observers for the Centre Québécois du droit de l’environnement (CQDE).

During their stay, our three experts will participate in the activities organized at the conference and its side events. They will focus on Canadian and Quebec climate policies as well as community, local, and regional issues.

In addition, as part of the University of Ottawa’s Forum on Water Law and Governance, they will also explore issues related to freshwater in the context of climate change. On that topic, Dr. Lauren Touchant will present in a panel about water governance in the context of the upcoming Canada Water Agency. This event will be held on November 5, 2021 at 4:00 pm (GMT), and broadcasted live on the official COP26 YouTube channel.

Our experts will communicate live the current events related to the negotiations and the themes explored during the conference, on social media. Twitter: @Prof_Bubu, @Lillaw @CELGS @LaurenTouchant @waterlawgov
