On September 30, 2022, the Second National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, the University of Ottawa’s Centre on Governance would like to join all citizens across Canada who are reflecting on our colonial past and its lasting painful legacy on Indigenous people. We want to honour the Anishinabek people who have taken care of this unsurrendered and unceded Algonquin land for time immemorial, and we want to remember forever the children who died in Indian Residential Schools. Today we reflect on our engagement and the work over the last year, but also future possibilities, dedicated to building and rebuilding relations with the Indigenous individuals and communities. We also reflect on the importance of the long-term and unwavering commitment of this work. We are committed to work meaningfully and inclusively with Indigenous partners across the country towards the advancement of Truth and knowledge.
