
The Executive Committee of the Board of Governors approved the appointment of Victoria Barham as Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences. She will begin a five-year term in this position on July 1, 2019.
Victoria Barham has 29 years’ experience in academia, and considerable knowledge of the University of Ottawa and the Faculty of Social Sciences. She has been a professor in the Faculty of Social Sciences for 27 years, including a six-year term as Director of the Department of Economics. She served on the University’s Board of Governors from 2015 to 2018, and currently sits on the boards of the African School of Economics and the Canadian Economics Association.
Professor Victoria Barham earned a BA from Queen’s University, an MA from the University of Toronto, and a PhD from the Université Catholique de Louvain. She is currently an associate professor in the Department of Economics of our Faculty of Social Sciences, where she has also served as Vice-Dean of Undergraduate Studies and External Relations since 2017.
