What are the dates of the Forum? What are the fees?

The leadership program runs from July 7 to 13, 2019. There are no fees associated with attending the Forum. Transportation to Ottawa is included for participants from a distance greater than 300 km.

What is the application process? How can I register?

We accept applications from February 1 to April 21, 2019. Register online. In addition to providing your personal information in the form, you will have to answer two questions briefly:

  • Explain how you are committed to your community (at school or in your community) (think of all the activities that demonstrate your involvement and your leadership)
  • Explain why you want to participate in the Leadership Forum
Who can participate in the Forum?

All young Canadians aged 15 to 18 of Caribbean, Inuit, metis or First Nations origin. Participants must also, through the registration form, provide a list of extracurricular activities through which they demonstrate their commitment and explain why they wish to participate in the Forum.

Are places limited?

Yes, only 20 participants will be accepted. The number of participants from outside the National Capital Region is limited to 5.

What is involved in the leadership training and workshops?

The Forum provides leadership training for youth from a Caribbean, Inuit, Metis or First Nations minority.

What type of social activities are there?

In addition to the leadership training activities, participants will be able to discover the city of Ottawa during their stay. Participants will take part in visits to museums or heritage sites, group sports activities and have free time to explore the city.

What are the security measures at uOttawa?

Security is a priority during the forum. University of Ottawa Security Service is present across campus and can be reached at any time. Participants will be accompanied by the team leaders throughout the week to ensure their safety and well-being.

What will a day at the Forum look like?

Here is the schedule of a day! The mornings are dedicated to training and workshops while the rest of the day are dedicated to social activities. This is a typical day:

11:00 pm Curfew
I am from Ottawa or the region. Can I sleep at home instead of staying in residence?

No. The Forum is a residential program. It was created in this way so that students discover university life as a whole.
