Nomination of Catherine Deri Armstrong as the new Director of the Department of Economics

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Professor Catherine Deri Armstrong as Director of the Department of Economics. Her mandate is for three years, from July 1st, 2018 to June 30, 2021.

On the basis of the comments received from the members of the teaching staff, we are confident that Professor Deri Armstrong will bring a valuable experience in the management and development of the Department and that she will be able to count on the support and cooperation of faculty members.

Professor Deri Armstrong holds a Master in Economics from Carleton University as well a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Toronto. Her research areas include applied health and labour economics. Her past work has included the examination of social networks, immigrant health and errors in the measurement of self reported health. Current projects include the examination of the long term effects of maternal employment on children's outcomes and the evaluation of various primary health care reforms.
