It is with great sadness that we report the death of Gordon Boreham on May 6, 2022. Gordon was one of the founders of the Department of Economics at the University of Ottawa (together with, among others, Father Florent Brault, Stanislaw Judek , and Father Joseph Marie Quirion). He received his Ph.D. in economics from Columbia University. A specialist in money and banking, throughout his career he regularly taught courses in money and banking at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. He also frequently taught introductory microeconomics and macroeconomics. He studied the banking systems of many countries and published many articles in scholarly journals, including Canadian Banker. He was the author of the textbook Money, Banking and Finance: The Canadian Context (the last edition of which was published in 1988 in collaboration with Ronald Bodkin).
