This year’s Alumni Week featured high caliber conferences, delicious lunches and enjoyable family activities. Alumni rejoined their alma mater to discover the many changes that the University has undertaken since their graduation, one of which is the new Alex Trebek Alumni Hall, alumni’s new home on campus!
The week started with an event catered to young alumni and students, titled Training Tomorrow’s Leaders, that showcased professor’s from our Faculty. Alumni also had the opportunity to attend conferences on Quebec’s cinema, on expeditions on the Fraser River as well as in the North of Canada, on educational reforms as well as on political debate around current environmental issues, amongst others. This year’s President’s Luncheon on Track Two Diplomacy and the first lecture in the Alex Trebek Lecture Series, which was on terrorism and presented by Thomas L. Friedman, were sold out!
More than eight class reunions were also held during Alumni Week. The biggest reunion of all, and some might argue the highlight of Alumni Week, was the Defy the Conventional Gala. This gala was also the kickoff of our Defy the Conventional Campaign, the most ambitious campaign in the university’s history.
It is with great optimism that we’re starting the planification for next year’s Alumni Week. We always look forward of welcoming our alumni back to their alma mater!
