Martin Lalumière

I am Professor at the School of Psychology (Clinical Program) at the University of Ottawa. I am also Associate Director of the Forensic Research Unit at the University of Ottawa Institute of Mental Health Research. Before moving to Ottawa in 2013 I was on faculty in the Department of Psychology at the University of Lethbridge in Alberta (2004-2012). Previously I was a research psychologist in the Law and Mental Health Program at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (1997-2004), a psychiatric teaching hospital in Toronto, Ontario. At the same time I was on faculty in the Department of Psychiatry and the Centre for Criminology and Sociolegal Studies at the University of Toronto (1997-2004). And before that I was a research psychologist at the maximum secure unit of the Mental Health Centre Penetanguishene (1996-1997), a psychiatric hospital on Georgian Bay, Ontario (now called the Waypoint Mental Health Centre). I became a registered psychologist in Québec in 1991 and in Ontario in 1996. I am an Associate Editor for the journal Archives of Sexual Behavior, and I am on the editorial boards of the journals Sexual Abuse: A Journal of Research and Treatment, Evolutionary Psychology, and the Canadian Journal of Human Sexuality. I am President of the Canadian Sex Research Forum, an organization devoted to promoting sexuality research in Canada <http://www.canadiansexresearchforum.com>. My current research focuses on the assessment, treatment, and etiology of the paraphilias and hypersexuality. I also conduct research on the measurement of sexual attraction and sexual arousal using psychophysiological and cognitive methods with men and women, and with men who have committed sexual crimes.
