Faculty of Social Sciences alumnus Andrew Leslie (BSocSc ’80) has been appointed parliamentary secretary to the minister of foreign affairs. He will be playing a key role in Canada-U.S. relations.
Leslie served in the Canadian Forces both at home and abroad with NATO and United Nation missions, including as deputy commander of the International Security Assistance Force and Commander Task Force in Kabul, Afghanistan, in 2003. He retired in 2011 as a lieutenant-general, after 35 years in the Forces.
Leslie completed a bachelor’s in economics at the University of Ottawa and an MA at the Royal Military College of Canada, as well as professional development courses at Harvard Business School.
